About The Role

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for optimising logistics operations? Inpost is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team in Lichfield. As a key player in the time-critical logistics industry, we provide innovative supply chain solutions across Retail, eCommerce, and more—and this is an exciting time for you to get involved as we continue to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take full accountability for the daily management and supervision of the entire despatch operation.
  • Lead, support, and develop the operational team to achieve high performance and continuous growth.
  • Ensure the operation consistently exceeds customer expectations, adhering to agreed contract KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong, effective working relationships with both internal teams and external customers.
  • Oversee operational compliance, with a focus on Health & Safety standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Manager and Depot Manager to meet and exceed all operational performance targets.
  • Conduct regular team reviews and coordinate training and development programs to enhance staff skills and productivity.
  • Optimise the efficient use of driver and vehicle resources to support operational demands.
  • Foster positive working relationships with customers to ensure smooth and effective operations.
  • Collect, analyse, and report on operational and financial performance data to identify efficiencies and improvements relating to MPG, tachographs, fuel consumption, and damage control.
  • Coordinate site housekeeping and maintenance activities to uphold Health & Safety requirements.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel across the UK as required.

What We Need From You

  • Proven expertise in driving continuous improvement initiatives and optimising operational processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Drivers’ Hours, Tachograph, and Working Time Directive (WTD) legislation.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and ensuring full compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of motivating, developing, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Experience in budget management, KPI development, and performance measurement to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities, with a proven capacity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in utilising computerised systems, including Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong numeracy and analytical skills.
