Operations Manager - Warehouse & Distribution
W Talent is pleased to be supporting a leading supply chain and logistics organisation in the appointment of an experienced Operations Manager at its South Yorkshire site.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a high-volume, technology-led warehouse operation, with responsibility for overall operational performance, people leadership, and commercial delivery.
You will lead and develop operational managers and wider warehouse teams, driving service, productivity, cost, and performance while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. The role will suit an experienced warehouse, distribution, or logistics leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident balancing people, customer, and commercial priorities.
The Role
Reporting to the senior site leadership team, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the operation, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day warehouse and processing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop Operations Managers and wider operational teams.
- Set and monitor KPIs, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, labour, and resources to maximise productivity and control costs.
- Use operational data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Optimise labour, equipment, automation, and technology to meet operational demand.
- Maintain accurate stock control and consistently deliver agreed customer service levels.
- Develop and improve operational procedures and working practices.
- Lead Lean, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Work closely with Planning, Account Management, and wider business functions.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational risks and performance issues.

Ideally, You Will Have
We are looking for an established operations leader with a strong background in high-volume warehouse, distribution, or processing environments.

- Significant experience managing large operational teams.
- Experience within an automated or technology-led warehouse environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, resource planning, and productivity management.
- Experience managing budgets and delivering against financial targets.
- A proven track record of improving service, productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Experience working within fast-paced, high-volume operations.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements.
- Experience using WMS, operational systems, and performance data.
- Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience managing stock and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience working across multiple departments and managing internal and external stakeholders.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification would be advantageous.
Salary & Benefits
- Location: South Yorkshire
- Salary: £55,000-£65,000
- Contract: Permanent, Full Time
- Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
