An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to join a leading UK retailer within a highly automated eCommerce fulfilment operation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering safe, efficient and high-performing warehouse operations across a fast-paced distribution environment. You will lead operational teams to achieve productivity, service and quality objectives while ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
Working closely with Engineering, Flow Room, Inventory and Continuous Improvement teams, you will drive operational excellence, maximise resource utilisation and create a culture focused on safety, engagement and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day warehouse operation, ensuring productivity, service, quality and safety targets are consistently achieved.
- Deliver operational plans through effective leadership, resource planning and performance management across inbound, picking, packing and outbound activities.
- Manage operational performance through the use of live data, KPIs and performance dashboards, driving actions to maintain throughput and customer service levels.
- Lead and develop frontline leadership teams, creating a high-performing culture built around accountability, engagement and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the Flow Room, Engineering and Technology teams to ensure operational plans align with automation capability and site priorities.
- Identify operational risks, constraints and inefficiencies, implementing recovery plans to minimise disruption and protect customer commitments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, labour utilisation and overall warehouse performance.
- Champion a strong health and safety culture, ensuring safe systems of work are embedded across all operational activities.
- Monitor labour performance, absence, productivity and operational costs, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to meet changing business demands.
- Lead operational response during peak trading periods, operational change and business-critical events.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to optimise end-to-end fulfilment performance and improve the customer experience.

- Proven experience leading warehouse operations within large-scale automated sites
- Strong operational leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience managing performance through KPIs, operational reporting and real-time decision making.
- A sound understanding of automated warehouse operations and how technology supports operational performance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to changing operational priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, building effective relationships across Operations, Engineering, Inventory, Planning and Support functions.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable productivity, quality and service improvements.
