Operations Manager | Medical Devices | Houghton Regis
Maclivaro are supporting a growing medical device business in the appointment of an experienced Operations Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team.
This is a broad, hands-on operational leadership role with responsibility across Manufacturing, Warehouse, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance, as well as delegated responsibility for Health & Safety across the site. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, improving processes and developing the organisation’s longer-term strategy.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of the business, ensuring manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and quality activities are aligned with customer demand and wider business objectives.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading Manufacturing, Warehouse, Supply Chain and QA functions.
- Managing production planning, material requirements, stock levels and supplier performance.
- Ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and proactively managing any potential delays.
- Owning operational KPIs, producing accurate performance reporting and driving corrective actions where required.
- Managing manufacturing and sourcing costs and supporting annual budget development and cost control.
- Developing and embedding Lean Six Sigma and 5S principles across the operation.
- Leading the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring standards are maintained and continually improved.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant medical device Quality and Regulatory requirements, including certification and registration.
- Planning and managing internal, external and supplier audits.
- Overseeing stock management, stock takes, goods in/out, expiry, preservation and write-offs.
- Developing supplier relationships, supplier performance, alternative sourcing strategies and supplier auditing.
- Taking responsibility for site Health & Safety.
- Leading, developing and coaching direct reports, including performance reviews, training and development.
- Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver the organisation’s 3–5 year strategy.
- Driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About You
We are looking for an experienced operational leader who can combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience in operations management within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience across manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and/or warehouse operations.
- A strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO standards.
- Experience working within the medical device, life sciences, healthcare or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- A good understanding of relevant medical device Quality and Regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing audits, suppliers and corrective actions.
- Proven experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, costs and operational performance.
- A track record of improving processes, systems and operational efficiency.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or continuous improvement methodologies would be highly advantageous.
- The confidence to operate as part of a Senior Leadership Team and contribute to wider business strategy.

Location: Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Role: Permanent, full-time
Reporting to: Managing Director
