Operations & Procurement Manager

Salary: £53,460 - £59,012 (FTE)
Location: Northamptonshire
Working Pattern: Part time and full time considered

A growing educational organisation is seeking an experienced Operations & Procurement Manager to provide strategic leadership across procurement, operational services, compliance, and sustainability.

Working closely with the executive leadership team, this is a high-profile position with responsibility for ensuring operational excellence across multiple sites, delivering value for money, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting future organisational growth.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious operational leader looking to broaden their remit and potentially progress into a future Chief Operating Officer-level position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement strategy, tendering activity, and contract management across the organisation.
  • Build and manage effective supplier relationships, ensuring strong performance against agreed service levels.
  • Identify efficiencies, cost savings, and opportunities for service improvement.
  • Support strategic operational projects across procurement, estates, sustainability, compliance, and business support functions.
  • Drive organisational compliance, governance, business continuity, and risk management initiatives.
  • Act as a key advisor to senior leaders on operational and commercial matters.
  • Lead on sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement programmes.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Support income generation through partnerships, funding opportunities, and service development.

About You

  • Experience within a Multi-Academy Trust, education setting, or comparable public sector environment.
  • Strong operational leadership experience across multiple sites, departments, or service areas.
  • Excellent procurement, tendering, and contract management expertise.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and holding providers accountable against SLAs and contractual obligations.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance requirements, and risk management processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and operational teams.
  • Commercial awareness and a track record of delivering efficiencies and value for money.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
