Operations / Production Manager
Location: Polypearl Moulded Products Limited, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire DN21 1QB.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About Us
Polypearl Moulded Products Ltd is a leading manufacturer of high-quality moulded polystyrene products, committed to delivering exceptional quality, efficiency, and customer service. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations / Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our production processes operate safely, efficiently, and profitably.
The Role
As Operations / Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, logistics and operational performance. You will lead the production team, manage resources, maintain quality standards, and ensure customer delivery requirements are consistently achieved.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the production facility.
- Lead, motivate, and develop production teams to achieve performance targets.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand.
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, and manufacturing costs.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles where appropriate.
- Manage stock levels, raw materials, and production resources.
- Work closely with sales, procurement, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Analyse KPIs and prepare operational reports for senior management.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase profitability.
- Manage equipment maintenance planning to minimise downtime.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance management of production staff.

Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager or Production Manager role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience in production planning and resource management.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP or manufacturing management systems.
- A continuous improvement mindset with experience in Lean Manufacturing or similar methodologies (desirable).
- Good commercial awareness and the ability to manage budgets and operational costs.
