About the Role
Are you an experienced Manufacturing / Production Manager or Shift Manager looking for your next challenge within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment?
I’m working with a leading food manufacturer who is looking to appoint two Manufacturing Shift Leads on 6-month fixed-term contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of first-line manufacturing leaders
- Take overall responsibility for manufacturing performance across your shift
- Drive performance across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP)
- Lead effective shift handovers, operational meetings and performance reviews
- Coordinate priorities across Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical, Planning, Warehouse and Supply Chain
- Act as the senior operational escalation point during your shift
- Drive improvements across OEE, yield, waste, throughput and labour utilisation
- Use operational data and structured problem solving to identify performance opportunities
- Champion Continuous Improvement and operational excellence
- Maintain high standards of Food Safety, GMP, Health & Safety and compliance
- Support succession planning, leadership development and capability building
- Challenge underperformance and create a culture of accountability and ownership
- Support automation, transformation and new ways of working
- Ensure operational priorities are delivered while balancing customer, commercial and people requirements

What We Are Looking For
- Significant leadership experience within food manufacturing or FMCG
- Experience managing manufacturing teams through first-line leaders
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and operational performance
- A proven track record in Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing
- Strong people leadership, coaching and development skills
- Good understanding of Food Safety, GMP and Health & Safety
- Confident decision-making and stakeholder management skills
- A data-driven approach to problem solving
- Experience working within a fast-paced, highly operational environment
- Experience within a highly automated manufacturing environment would be advantageous, as would experience supporting transformation or automation projects.
