The team
The Schemes team (50 professionals strong) develops and manages custom insurance schemes tailored to niche customer segments. Day-to-day responsibilities include oversight of scheme creation, delegated authorities, product innovation, and operational fine-tuning. Collaboration extends to underwriting teams, operational functions, broker partners, and third-party providers.
The role
The Schemes Operations Specialist is a pivotal support role, reporting to the Head of Operations. Your key focus will be:
- Process Optimisation: Streamline ways of working, embed governance, and ensure operational consistency.
- Change Leadership: Implement process improvements, tools, and technology with minimal disruption.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for internal/external risks, systems updates, and compliance matters.

What you’ll be doing
Operational Execution
- Execute changes (e.g. product rebuilds, rate adjustments, or policy wording updates) under pre-agreed frameworks, in collaboration with the Underwriting Governance and Change Manager.
- Oversee new scheme adoptions, ensuring seamless technical and operational integration.
- Handle regulatory compliance and governance adherence across schemes.
- Own and resolve Operational Risk Events, including escalating issues as needed.
- Assist in issuing accurate, timely internal/external reports.
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive change management strategies and multi-stage plans.
- Support processing teams in maintaining efficient schemes/data policy workflows.
Impact Analysis
- Assess risks and operational impacts of change, devising mitigation strategies.
- Support the Head of Schemes Operations as a delegate for critical decisions.
Communication & Training
- Design and deliver communication plans/training materials to facilitate transitions.

Performance Tracking
- Define and track KPIs to measure change initiative effectiveness.
- Manage key relationships with broken partners and internal stakeholders on behalf of Schemes.
Must-haves
- Proven experience in operations, process coordination, or change management (insurance preferred).
- Hands-on experience with process improvement initiatives, particularly in cross-functional settings.
- Basic familiarity with schemes/ delegated authority frameworks (preferred, not mandatory).
- Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure.
- Charismatic communicator with stakeholder influence ability.
- Fast-paced environments thriver – detail-oriented, resilient, and task-completion-focused.
- Operational mindset: solve problems systematically, ask insightful questions, and drive practical solutions.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel/PowerPoint beacons).
