XPO Logistics is seeking a highly motivated and organised Operational Supervisor to support the day-to-day management of our transport operation in Doncaster. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, customer service excellence, fleet management, and the development of our people.

You will work closely with operational teams, drivers, subcontractors, customers, and support functions to deliver a safe, compliant, and cost-effective transport operation while driving continuous improvement across the site. Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00

  • Salary: up to £35,500
  • Holiday: 28 days (including bank holidays) with the option to buy additional days

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

Operational Management

  • Lead and oversee daily transport operations.
  • Prepare for and participate in daily operational calls and reporting.
  • Monitor service performance and investigate operational failures.
  • Support route planning and resource allocation activities.
  • Manage stakeholder communications, including customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Support demand planning activities and operational forecasting.
  • Monitor and manage delivery performance, including OTRI investigations and corrective actions.
  • Assist with customer reporting and dashboard submissions.

Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (QHSE)

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Complete daily compliance checks and action any issues identified.
  • Manage safety tool reporting and hazard tracking systems.
  • Conduct and support accident and incident investigations.
  • Deliver safety communications, alerts, and one-point lessons to operational teams.
  • Complete operational audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Assist in maintaining site compliance standards and audit readiness.

Fleet Compliance & Management

  • Monitor and manage vehicle defect reporting and rectification.
  • Ensure fleet management systems and compliance boards are accurately maintained.
  • Support servicing, MOT planning, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor driver compliance including:
    • Working Time Directive (WTD)
    • Speeding infringements
    • Missing mileage investigations
    • Walk-around checks
    • Vehicle hygiene standards
  • Support FORS compliance activities and audit preparation.
  • Manage breakdowns, Vehicle Off Road (VOR) situations, and asset availability.
  • Maintain CPC and driver compliance records.

Essential

  • Previous experience within a transport, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • Experience supervising or leading operational teams.
  • Strong understanding of transport compliance and health & safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Transport industry qualifications.
  • Knowledge of FORS requirements.
  • Experience with incident investigations and audit processes.
  • CPC qualification or working knowledge of transport legislation
