Purpose Of the Role:

To support the branch in operating an effective domestic distribution operation in response to customer requests and network standards in a cost-effective and efficient manner. To maximise profit whilst not compromising quality and service by providing effective solutions to FTL, LTL, and groupage requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the accurate dispatch of domestic Long Distance vehicles, including ADR and customs requirements where applicable, ensuring all documentation is prepared and processed correctly.
  • Plan and book vehicles and loading capacity to meet customer requirements, while maintaining DACHSER quality standards and departmental KPIs.
  • Manage the day-to-day administration and monitoring of domestic Long Distance operations using a range of DACHSER systems and tools.
  • Process purchase invoices and maintain real-time cost accruals to support effective financial control.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across Northampton, the UK network, and international DACHSER branches.
  • Effectively manage supplier relationships to secure cost-effective solutions and consistently high levels of service.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and operational best practices at all times.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise profitability while maintaining service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Respond promptly to customer requests for domestic charter and groupage services, delivering efficient and commercially viable transport solutions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date supplier database to ensure a broad range of reliable and competitive transport options are available.
  • Ensure all reports, records, and operational documentation are completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes, service quality, and overall business performance.
