Job Introduction
We're looking for a Team Leader to join our South Lincolnshire team, based at Grantham depot. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a skilled team at the forefront of delivering a safe, reliable electricity network for our customers and communities.
The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for leading a group of Trades Persons and running the fault desk.
The key focus of this role is to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team, ensuring the safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of work across the region.
Key considerations for the successful running of your team include: ensuring they are working compliantly within Health & Safety policies, coordinating programmes of work for them to undertake, organising response to network faults, maximising efficiencies in delivery, ensuring your team has the appropriate development and authorisations and effectively managing performance on a 1:1 basis.
As this is a crucial role to help drive forward performance and give our large teams the support they need in the field, you’ll need to be depot-based and comfortable with regular travel throughout the area.
Starting salary £45,492 moving to £49,369 on completion of training

- Ensuring your teams adherence to Health and Safety regulations
- Efficient scheduling of work activities
- Collaboration with other teams to manage workload
- Driving team productivity and individual performance management
- Maintaining a full schedule of work for the team
- Ensure our people have the appropriate training and work authorisations to support a safe and productive working environment
- Respond quickly and professionally to customer complaints

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an individual with experience of working within a utilities or similar operational environment, who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, reactive and often pressurised setting.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a safety-critical and/or regulated industry and be able to demonstrate sound judgement, effective prioritisation and independent decision-making when managing changing operational demands.
The Role Requires a Proven People Leader Who Can
- Lead, motivate and develop a team to deliver safe and effective operational performance
- Prioritise workloads and manage competing demands in a reactive environment
- Make informed decisions independently and take ownership of outcomes
- Manage performance and support the development of individuals within their team
- Act as a point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholders
- Build strong working relationships with craft colleagues, operational teams, contractors and customers
- Communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of audiences
- Identify problems, develop practical solutions and plan ahead using their own initiative
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Use IT systems effectively to manage workloads, resources and performance.
Commercial and financial awareness would be advantageous.
Knowledge And Experience
Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas would be beneficial; however, training and support will be provided to develop successful candidates in these areas:
- Electricity Safety
- Health & Safety Legislation
- Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 (ESQCR)
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- Electricity distribution operations
- Craft roles and activities undertaken within a distribution business
- New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) legislation

A NRSWA qualification or understanding of NRSWA legislation is desirable however, full training can be provided.
You must hold a full, valid UK/EU driving licence as you will be required to carry out site visits.
Selection Process
We are looking to hold a two-stage selection process for this role.
Stage 1 will consist of a competency-based interview, and these are currently scheduled to take place between 9 and 11 September.
Stage 2, which will consist of a role-based assessment and second interview.
Candidates who progress to Stage 2 will be advised of assessment dates following completion of the first stage.
