Operative
Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
We are looking for an Operative to support the safe and efficient running of our workshop and yard facilities. In this role, you will help manage the movement of plant and equipment, oversee the loading and unloading of goods, support stock control activities, and maintain a safe, organised working environment.
You will work in line with Galliford Try policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
What you'll be doing:
- Safely coordinate plant and equipment movements, loading and unloading activities, and yard stock control.
- Manage goods-in and goods-out documentation and ensure items are stored appropriately.
- Monitor and manage waste and hazardous waste, ensuring correct disposal and carrying out daily inspections.
- Maintain the forklift truck charging station, conduct basic fuel and oil checks, and operate forklift trucks where required.
- Carry out general housekeeping duties across the workshop and yard areas to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
- Complete all required administration, records, and documentation accurately.
- Deliver work to a high standard while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, and best practice standards.
- Support the loading and unloading of vehicles for colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Assist with cutting and drilling activities within the fabrication workshop when required (desirable but not essential).
About you:
- A Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence, or previous experience holding one.
- A Telehandler licence, or previous experience holding one.
- Knowledge of tools, plant, and equipment (desirable).
- A professional, approachable, and collaborative working style.
- The ability to follow guidance, work effectively as part of a team, and support others through positive behaviours.
- Strong customer service skills and a commitment to delivering a high-quality experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication workshop environment (desirable).
