Job Description: Operator

Location: Blythswood

Full-time, Permanent Contract

Shift Pattern: 38 hours weekly, Mon-Thur 7am-3:45pm & Fri 7am – 12 noon

End date to Apply: 20th September

Purpose of the Role

  • Play a significant role to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues and others.
  • Working safely within the team, aware of hazards within your work area, wider site and operating procedures and preventing incidents from occurring.
  • Leading a self-managed team within operations taking ownership for ensuring the efficient daily operation of our processes within your operational area whilst adhering to Diageo Health and Safety standards as a priority.
  • Support site management teams and work closely with other Senior Operator team members to help deliver production commitments for your area and drive business improvement and performance to positively contribute to a world class outlook and actively support the development and successful implementation of strategies to achieve this aim.
  • Flexibility working in your core job role as well as supporting other areas, where required and when trained to do so.

Key Accountabilities

  • Compliance with all Health and Safety, Environmental, and HM (R&C) requirements. Actively committed to attaining site aspiration of zero accidents.
  • Ensure safe movement of cask / spirit within an established process procedure that encompasses various functions across our Maturation sites, adhering to Diageo safe systems of work.
  • Work with site team to develop daily / weekly plans to support delivery of wider business targets including ensuring adherence to the plan. Calling out potential risks to delivery of the plan.
  • To ensure and maintain product integrity inline with quality assurance.
  • Support Site Management Team in delivery of Manufacturing Management Systems (MMS) delivery at sites.
  • Lead on T1, SIC / RCPS, 5S to track and drive performance, and ensure safety is the number 1 priority.
  • Clearly connect with and lead own team and others, to ensure the effective continuity of operations. This will include verbal and written communications.
  • Operation of task specific Maturation equipment in accordance with safe systems of work and training provided.
  • Train and coach colleagues as required.
  • Expected to reach a level of competency associated with your role by completing mandatory training in accordance with the Diageo training matrix.
  • Commit to grow own capability and experience to the benefit of self, your team and Diageo business requirements.
  • Take ownership of critical metric targets in your area. Ensuring trackers are maintained and updated in a timely manner to support tiered meeting structure.
  • Contribute to the Manex Programme by understanding lean methodologies and techniques to challenge current ways of working and drive business performance for own area.
  • Set a high standard through having a positive attitude to own development.
  • Encourage and coach members of your team to develop their skills & tackle new challenges. Give and receive feedback in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Support successful Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) within the teams by ensuring short interval control process is embedded within your area and issues documented.
  • Support site management teams with Capital investment decisions through engaging with loss and waste sessions and URS (user requirement specification) development.
  • Ensure that the Safe Systems of Work for your site are adhered to and that personnel are competent in carrying out assigned tasks.
  • Accurately record and promptly report maintenance issues via SAP.
  • Where appropriate, utilise IT systems.

Excellence in Supply Chain

  • Attend all Tier Meetings, contribute to the agenda and complete actions as required.
  • Understands and uses Manufacturing excellence principles tools and techniques.
  • Adhere to Diageo values and code of conduct.

Skills & Experience

  • A strong understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Experience of working in a team-orientated environment would be advantageous, although support and development will be provided.
  • Experience of Working within Whisky Warehousing would be advantageous.
  • Manual handling experience would be beneficial but not essential. Most important attribute will be to have the right behavioral skills, which demonstrate a “can do will do attitude.
  • A confident and effective communicator who is able to develop excellent relationships at all levels.

Desirable

  • Full UK driving licence (role dependent).
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Knowledge of MANEX principles.
