Role Description
The Optical Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at our practice in Marlow. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Welcoming patients
- Managing appointments
- Supporting the smooth flow of the clinic

The Optical Assistant will assist with:

- Frame selection
- Fitting and adjusting glasses
- Providing guidance on lenses and coatings based on patients’ prescriptions and lifestyle needs
The role also involves handling basic administrative tasks such as:
- Updating patient records
- Processing payments
- Coordinating with optometrists to ensure accurate and efficient service
The Optical Assistant is expected to:
- Maintain a clean and organized practice environment
- Consistently deliver friendly, professional support to every visitor
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Excellent communication abilities, including clear, respectful interaction with patients and colleagues.
- Foundational knowledge of optometry or previous experience in an optical or healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve concerns effectively.
- Attention to detail when handling prescriptions, product information, and patient records.
- Ability to work on-site full time, including standing for extended periods and assisting with frame adjustments.
- Basic computer skills for appointment scheduling, record management, and point-of-sale systems.
- Previous experience in retail, healthcare, or optical environments is an advantage; training will be provided for the right candidate.
