Development & Progression

- Take on increased responsibility over time
- Develop into a more senior role within the practice
- Be supported towards the Dispensing Optician pathway if appropriate
Working Pattern
- Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
- Alternate Saturdays (9:00 – 5:30)
- Participation in 1–2 late finishes per month

About the Role
We’re looking for an Optical Assistant to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the practice.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be involved across the full patient journey — from reception and pre-screening through to dispensing support.
You’ll be joining a supportive, close-knit team, and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates confidently with patients, and enjoys being part of a professional environment.
What the Role Involves
- Booking and managing appointments (phone and in practice)
- Running a busy reception desk
- Preparing patients for their eye examination and building rapport
- Carrying out pre-screening tests accurately and consistently
- Supporting dispensing, adjustments, and repairs
- Helping the practice run smoothly day to day

- May have previous optical or retail/customer service experience — but this is not essential
- Is confident speaking with patients and putting them at ease
- Takes real care with detail and accuracy, particularly in pre-screening

- Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing positively
- Wants to learn, develop, and build a long-term role

- Max: GBP £25,350.00
- Min: GBP £24,784.50
