Our Store
Specsavers Didcot is a busy and well-established store located in the heart of the town, providing exceptional optical and audiology services to a diverse customer base. The store is known for its strong focus on delivering outstanding customer care, clinical excellence, and a positive team culture. Conveniently located on Orchard Street in Didcot town centre, the store benefits from excellent transport links, with Didcot Parkway railway station just a short 7-minute walk away, providing direct services to Oxford, Reading, London Paddington, Bristol and surrounding areas. The town is also well served by local bus routes, making the store easily accessible for both customers and colleagues commuting from the wider Oxfordshire region.

The team at Specsavers Didcot is made up of experienced optical and audiology professionals who are passionate about delivering outstanding customer care and clinical excellence. Working collaboratively in a supportive and inclusive environment, colleagues share a commitment to helping customers look after their eye and hearing health while providing a welcoming and personalised experience. Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Optical Assistant.
Who is this Apprenticeship for?
If this is still sounding like a bit of you, we do need you to have a few skills to get started as an Optical Assistant Apprentice.
- You’ll need a grade 9-4 (A*-C) GCSEs in Maths (or equivalent/predicted result)
- Individuals who have lived in the EU for 3 years or more, with the right to work in the UK
What does the role involve?
- Welcoming customers into store
- Booking in eye tests
- Pre-screening patients
- Providing style advice
- Measuring frames
- Taking phone calls
