Role Description
The Optical Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role supports optometrists and clinic staff by welcoming patients, scheduling appointments, and managing basic administrative tasks such as updating records and processing payments.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Guiding patients through pre-screening tests
- Assisting with frame selection and lens options
- Explaining products and services in a clear, friendly manner
The Optical Assistant helps ensure a smooth patient journey, maintains a clean and organized clinic environment, and contributes to a high standard of customer service and satisfaction. Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams is essential to provide efficient, accurate, and respectful care.

- Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and a commitment to Customer Satisfaction, with a patient-centered approach.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to interact clearly and professionally with patients and colleagues.
- Candidates should possess basic knowledge of Optometry or a willingness to learn clinical procedures and optical products.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, optical, or retail environment is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site full time, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Comfort with basic computer systems for scheduling, record-keeping, and point-of-sale activities.
- Relevant training or certification in optical assistance or healthcare support is an advantage.
