Experienced Optical Assistant – Boots Opticians Franchise, Borehamwood


We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our friendly and established Boots Opticians franchise team in Borehamwood.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous optical experience who enjoys delivering a high standard of customer care, working in a busy practice and helping patients find the right eyewear and lens solutions for their needs.

We are looking for someone confident, professional and reliable who can become a valued part of the team and contribute from day one.

About the role

As an Optical Assistant, you will support customers throughout their journey in practice, from their initial visit through to dispensing, collection and aftercare.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising customers on frames, lenses and lens enhancements
  • Helping customers choose frames suited to their prescription, lifestyle and personal style
  • Discussing ophthalmic lens options and making appropriate recommendations
  • Supporting clinics with pre-screening and administrative duties
  • Carrying out spectacle collections, fittings and adjustments
  • Providing excellent aftercare and resolving customer queries
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service and professionalism
  • Supporting the wider team with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A minimum of one year’s previous Optical Assistant experience
  • Previous optical dispensing experience
  • A good understanding of ophthalmic lenses and lens options
  • Confidence discussing lenses and lens enhancements with customers
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A friendly, professional and reliable approach
  • The ability to work well in a busy retail and clinical environment
  • A positive attitude and strong team-working skills

Hours

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • 9:00am to 5:30pm
  • Saturdays required
  • One weekday off each week

Salary

Competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience.
