Silverberg Opticians is a long-established independent practice that has been caring for the vision needs of Liverpool for over 50 years. The team provides a complete eye care service, from examinations with resident optometrists to frame selection and in-hallowing many prescriptions. The practice hosts the largest specialist contact lens department in the North West, supporting a wide range of lens types and complex prescriptions. Silverberg Opticians also offers an extensive collection of designer and luxury spectacle frames and sunglasses, with over 2,500 options to suit different fits and preferences. The company is expanding its Corporate Eye Care Scheme, partnering with local businesses to deliver high-quality care at competitive prices.
Role Description
The Optical Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based at Silverberg Opticians in Liverpool. The Optical Assistant will support patients throughout their visit, including welcoming them to the practice, scheduling appointments, and guiding them through frame and lens selection. - Assisting with pre-testing procedures under optometrist guidance
- Managing orders and repairs
- Ensuring accurate patient records
- Providing clear information about products, pricing, and services
- Maintaining a clean and organized dispensing area

The Optical Assistant will collaborate closely with optometrists and other team members to deliver a high standard of customer service and contribute to the smooth running of the practice.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and a focus on customer satisfaction to support a welcoming, patient-centered environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities to explain eye care products, services, and procedures clearly and professionally.
- Basic understanding of optometry or optical products (frames, lenses, contact lenses), with a willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills for handling orders, records, and stock in a busy practice.
- Previous experience in an optical, retail, or healthcare setting is beneficial but not essential.
- Comfort using basic computer systems for appointment booking and patient management.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with manual tasks such as fitting frames and handling equipment.
