Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Optical Assistant / Receptionist role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The role involves greeting patients, managing appointments, answering phone and in-person inquiries, and handling reception duties such as check-in, check-out, and payment processing. Day-to-day tasks include supporting optometrists by preparing patient records, guiding patients through frame and lens selection, and ensuring the practice is tidy, organized, and well-presented. The Optical Assistant / Receptionist will also assist with basic administrative tasks, maintain accurate data entry, and help resolve patient concerns to support a smooth patient journey. The position requires a consistent focus on patient care, clear communication, and efficient front-of-house operations.

- Strong Interpersonal Skills and a focus on Customer Satisfaction to ensure a positive and supportive experience for all patients.
- Effective Communication and Customer Service skills to handle inquiries, manage reception duties, and respond to patient needs clearly and professionally.
- Interest or foundational knowledge in Optometry or optical services to support frame selection, lens discussions, and basic clinical workflows.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and good organizational skills for managing appointments, records, and daily administrative tasks.
- Comfort working in a face-to-face, on-site environment, with the ability to work collaboratively within a small practice team.
- Previous experience in retail, healthcare reception, or an optical setting is beneficial but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with scheduling or point-of-sale systems are an advantage.
