Role Description

The Optical Dispenser is a full or part-time, on-site role based in Beckenham, Bromley, or Greenwich. This position supports the optometrists and dispensing team by welcoming customers, conducting pre-screening tests, and guiding individuals through frame and lens selection. Daily tasks include:

The Optical Assistant also handles basic adjustments and fittings, provides aftercare advice, and works closely with the team to deliver a high standard of service and a smooth in-store experience.


Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a focus on customer satisfaction to build trust and long-term relationships.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to explain options clearly and handle enquiries professionally.
  • Basic knowledge of optometry or previous optical retail experience, with an interest in developing clinical understanding.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills for managing appointments, records, and product displays.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced retail environment, including occasional weekend work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain a professional, inclusive approach to all customers.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, retail, or hospitality is advantageous.
