About the Role

So, you’re a proactive people person, passionate about retail. Sounds like you’d be a great fit here. If you’ve ever considered a career in optics, this Lab technician role could be perfect for you.

As a Lab technician you will use the latest computer-controlled equipment with an eye for detail & accuracy, allowing you to maintain high standards to maximise customer satisfaction.

With your previous knowledge of an Optical Lab, you will be part of a team responsible for preparing customer’s spectacle orders to the highest standard.

Bootle Specsavers is a modern, spacious store that underwent a significant relocation and expansion in the last year, providing colleagues and customers with a state-of-the-art environment. Our Team

At Bootle Specsavers, you'll be joining a welcoming, experienced, and highly collaborative team that is passionate about delivering outstanding customer and patient care. The store brings together colleagues across optics, audiology, retail, and the laboratory, creating a supportive environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything they do. You'll be joining a close-knit and supportive laboratory team of two, working within one of the largest and most modern Specsavers stores in the region. The lab team plays a vital role in delivering high-quality eyewear to customers, working collaboratively with the wider optical and retail teams to ensure an exceptional end-to-end experience. With a strong focus on teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement, the team creates an environment where colleagues are encouraged to share knowledge, develop their skills, and support one another in achieving both personal and store goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly and experienced team where your contribution will have a real impact and where you'll be valued as an integral part of the store's success.

What we’re looking for?

You will need to have previous experience working in an optical lab, be a great communicator, have an eye for detail, be flexible and adaptable, a passionate people person, organised, and hard-working.

The Role:

  • Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions
  • Using blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and fit
  • Assembling lenses into frames
  • Tinting of lenses to provide UV protection and a variety of colours
  • Attention to detail
  • Ordering frames and lenses
  • Quality checking of completed glasses
  • Good housekeeping and machine maintenance
