Hours: 5 days / 40 hours per week – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday (9am - 5:30pm)

Salary: Up to £27k per annum

Role: Full Time, Permanent

About the Role

Do you have experience working in optical retail and a passion for delivering an exceptional client experience?

Bayfields Opticians & Audiologists are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our friendly team in Oxted as a Client Experience Advisor.

Client Experience Advisor is our new name for Optical Assistant, reflecting the important role you play in creating an obsessively great experience for every client who walks through our doors.

When you join Bayfields, you are joining an independent business with a national presence. We may have practices across the country, but we are not a huge chain. We understand the importance of local relationships, the power of choice and getting to know our clients.

At the heart of everything we do is our Welcome, Discover, Delight client journey. We want every client to feel welcomed, listened to and valued, and you will play a key part in making that happen.

What You Will Be Doing

As our Client Experience Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for our clients, whether they are visiting the practice, calling us or contacting us online.

You will greet clients with a warm smile, listen carefully to understand their needs and take ownership of their queries. Working closely with your Practice Manager, Optometrists, Audiologists, Dispensing Opticians and wider team, you'll help find the right solution for every client.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming and looking after clients, providing an exceptional level of customer service.
  • Assisting clients in selecting suitable frames, lenses and other optical products.
  • Dispensing single vision, multifocal and contact lenses.
  • Booking appointments and managing client bookings.
  • Processing payments and orders accurately.
  • Maintaining attractive product displays and ensuring the practice is clean, tidy and welcoming.
  • Supporting the wider practice team to deliver our Welcome, Discover, Delight client journey.
  • Building strong and lasting relationships with our clients and colleagues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
