What You’ll Work On
We are looking for an experienced options trader with a proven track record at a top-tier trading firm. At Wintermute, you will:
- Build and scale our options trading business.
- Operate autonomously with no legacy systems, no bureaucracy, no approval queues.
- Act like an owner—we align incentives entirely with company success.
Required:
- Proficient coding experience or demonstrated ability to learn Python quickly (self-study acceptable).

Market Analysis & Strategy
- Monitor and rationalise crypto market flows across:
- Spot, perpetuals, futures, and options.
- Identify volatility and skew dislocations.
- Analyze exchange-level positioning, funding dynamics, open interest, and on-/off-exchange flows to uncover opportunities.
- Research and backtest:
- Volatility surface dynamics
- Term structure
- Skew behavior
- Relative value & dispersion trades (e.g., BTC, ETH, and liquid altcoins).
Alpha Development & Execution
- Develop/refine alpha signals combining:
- Market microstructure insights
- Quantitative research tools.
- Actively trade and risk-manage a multi-exchange crypto options portfolio (delta, vega, gamma, cross-venue risk).
Systematic Trading Expansion
- Contribute to volatility strategies (systematic and semi-systematic).
- Own the full investment lifecycle:
- Closed-loop cycle from thesis development → modelling → execution → post-trade analysis.
Collaborative Growth
- Work alongside engineering and infrastructure teams to:
- Optimise electronic execution
- Improve latency-sensitive routing
- Enhance exchange automation.
Risk & Counterparty Management
- Monitor:
- Exchange counterparty risk
- Liquidity fragmentation
- Structural inefficiencies in crypto derivatives.

Hard Skills Requirements
- 3–5+ years’ experience in:
- Crypto options market making at a top-tier firm.
- Preferred: Proprietary trading background with a systematic/algorithmic component (not pure execution).
- Profound understanding of option pricing and risk frameworks—ability to design models from scratch.
- Demonstrated quantitative/analytical skills (we’ll test this).
- Python proficiency—highly recommended; otherwise, proven ability to self-learn efficiently within months.
