Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer | Optics & Photonics
An opportunity to design and develop precision opto-mechanical systems for advanced optical and photonic applications.
This is a hands-on role combining mechanical design, optics, tolerance analysis and manufacturing, taking concepts from CAD through to prototyping, alignment, testing and production.
The role includes:
- Designing precision opto-mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Using Zemax for optical modelling and tolerance analysis
- Translating optical requirements into practical mechanical designs
- Supporting prototype builds, optical alignment and testing
- Investigating thermal, mechanical and alignment challenges
- Working closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers

We’re looking for:
- Strong experience with SolidWorks
- Experience with Zemax or similar optical software
- Understanding of optics, alignment and tolerance analysis
- Background in mechanical, optical or opto-mechanical engineering
- A hands-on approach to prototyping and testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
