Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Beverley. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing, prescribing and fitting corrective lenses, and identifying ocular conditions that may require further medical attention. Optometrists at Specsavers are encouraged to participate in ongoing training and development to keep skills current and support the wider clinical team.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or eligible for registration as an Optometrist with the relevant professional body, with a strong understanding of clinical optometry and ocular health.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, contact lens assessments, and screening for common eye diseases.
  • Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings and treatment options in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary retail and clinical team, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and patient-centered environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Comfort using digital diagnostic equipment and clinic management systems, with willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in training, continuing education, and staying current with clinical best practices.
  • Previous experience in a community optometry or retail optical setting is beneficial, though newly qualified optometrists are also encouraged to apply.
