Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based at the Specsavers store in Harlow. The Optometrist will conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including vision tests and ocular health assessments, using modern diagnostic equipment and clinical guidelines.

- Interpreting test results
- Identifying and managing common eye conditions
- Providing clear advice on prescriptions, lenses, and referrals when needed
- Collaborating closely with store teams to ensure a smooth patient journey, from appointment to aftercare, while maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to professional and regulatory standards
- Contributing to continuous improvement by participating in training, sharing best practices, and supporting a culture of patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Current registration or eligibility to register as an Optometrist with the relevant professional body, with strong clinical knowledge in refraction, ocular health assessment, and contact lens fitting.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment (e.g., autorefractors, slit lamps, visual field analyzers) and following evidence-based clinical protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical findings clearly and build trust with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail, record-keeping accuracy, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary retail-clinical team to deliver seamless patient experiences.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to recognize when to refer patients for further medical investigation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, openness to learning new technologies, and engagement with clinical training and continuing education.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Optometry (or recognized qualification), and prior experience in a community or retail optometry setting is beneficial.
