JOB DESCRIPTION
What you’ll be doing
As an Optometrist at Boots, you’ll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care – using the latest tech, working alongside experienced colleagues, and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether you're leading a clinic, responding to triage, or mentoring others, no two days are the same, and your growth never stops.
Key responsibilities
- Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
- Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
- Providing enhanced services, from triage support to advanced assessments, depending on store needs
- Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
- Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
- Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
- Playing a key role in your store’s leadership team, bringing energy and insight to every shift
What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)
- We’re looking for Optometrists who are confident, compassionate, and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.
- GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
- NHS performer number (or working towards it)
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration
It would be great if you also have
- Experience supporting enhanced services
- A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Team structure
You will join a friendly, experienced and supportive clinical team across the Bury St Edmunds Twin Town. With a strong focus on patient care and collaboration, you will work alongside experienced Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians, giving you the opportunity to share knowledge, build strong professional relationships and continue developing your clinical skills.
Working across the Twin Town
This role offers the variety of working across both Bury St Edmunds stores, giving you exposure to different teams, patients and store environments while remaining part of an established local clinical community. It is an ideal opportunity for an Optometrist who enjoys variety and wants to broaden their experience.
Located on Brentgovel Street in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and ambitious part of the Boots Opticians network. Bury is a thriving market town with a strong local community, beautiful historic surroundings, independent shops, cafés and restaurants, while also offering good links towards Cambridge, Ipswich and the wider Suffolk area.
The Bury area is an exciting location for Boots Opticians, with opportunities to be part of a strong clinical team and help shape the future of the stores. There is a real focus on delivering excellent patient care, developing the clinical team and creating an environment where colleagues can build their careers.
