Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Ashford. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including history taking, refraction, ocular health assessments, and contact lens evaluations, following current clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting clinical findings
  • Providing clear explanations of results
  • Recommending appropriate management plans, such as prescriptions, referrals, and lifestyle advice

The role involves working closely with dispensing colleagues and other team members to ensure a seamless customer journey and a high standard of care. The Optometrist will maintain accurate clinical records, support clinical governance and compliance, and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture that prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Relevant optometry qualification and full registration with the appropriate professional body (e.g., GOC or equivalent), with eligibility to practice in the UK.
  • Strong clinical skills in eye examinations, diagnostic techniques, and contact lens fitting, with a commitment to evidence-based practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical information clearly and build trust with a diverse range of customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing retail and clinical environment, contributing to team goals while maintaining high personal standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and a focus on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and professional ethics.
  • Comfort with using digital tools and clinical equipment, and willingness to learn new systems and technologies as required.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in training, continuing education, and clinical skills enhancement.
