Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Ashford. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including history taking, refraction, ocular health assessments, and contact lens evaluations, following current clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities include:
- Interpreting clinical findings
- Providing clear explanations of results
- Recommending appropriate management plans, such as prescriptions, referrals, and lifestyle advice
The role involves working closely with dispensing colleagues and other team members to ensure a seamless customer journey and a high standard of care. The Optometrist will maintain accurate clinical records, support clinical governance and compliance, and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture that prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Relevant optometry qualification and full registration with the appropriate professional body (e.g., GOC or equivalent), with eligibility to practice in the UK.
- Strong clinical skills in eye examinations, diagnostic techniques, and contact lens fitting, with a commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain clinical information clearly and build trust with a diverse range of customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing retail and clinical environment, contributing to team goals while maintaining high personal standards.
- Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping, and a focus on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and professional ethics.
- Comfort with using digital tools and clinical equipment, and willingness to learn new systems and technologies as required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in training, continuing education, and clinical skills enhancement.

Previous experience in community or retail optometry is beneficial but newly qualified optometrists are encouraged to apply.
