Specsavers. A household name and a Highstreet staple. And you could be part of the team.

We’re looking for a passionate Optometrist ready to provide our customers with the best eyecare in the business. At Specsavers Berwick, we’re a quieter store and our Optometrists have individual clinics, meaning we can be flexible around start and finish times to accommodate for school runs. We would love to hear what your ideal working week looks like, whether you would like to start later or finish earlier, we are fully able to support your outside commitments.

You will be working alongside a supportive team who have all progressed their way up in this store, one of which started as an Optical Assistant and is now the Retail Director. The store has 3 test rooms all fitted with OCT and Phoroptors and testing times are between 25-30 minutes as we are both a community and patient-focused store and value both our customers and our colleagues. The team love to go out for social nights every couple of months, as well as arranging to see films or shows and meals in between.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
