I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Hectors Way operates from within a Sainsburys, offering two optical test rooms running daily and Hearcare services available three to four days per week. This is fully supported through the shared Hearcare clinic model linked to the Newbury hub.
People & Culture
The Newbury store is supported by a retail team of 30 colleagues, while Hectors Way operates with a team of seven. Management structures are well established, with Newbury led by three part-time Deputy Managers and Hectors Way overseen by a full-time Manager. Both locations demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical development, maintaining a “grow your own” culture and actively supporting Pre-Registration trainees. The businesses represent a large, well-established operation.
Why This Opportunity?
This is an attractive opportunity to take on two well-established and profitable businesses that have benefited from recent investment. The sites offer substantial clinical capacity and notable potential for further Hearcare growth. Experienced management teams are already in place, and the businesses serve an appealing demographic with strong connections to the local community. Overall, this represents an excellent option for an ambitious partner seeking scale, influence, and long-term growth.
