With state-of-the-art diagnostic technology (including Optomap and OCT) and dedicated dry eye, glaucoma, and myopia clinics, we provide a full-scope clinical environment for IP Optometrists. We are seeking a Full-Time Specialist Optometrist with the Professional Higher Certificate in Glaucoma or Professional Diploma in Glaucoma to deliver specialist glaucoma care alongside comprehensive optometric examinations at Eye Academy Windsor.
The role combines direct patient care with clinical decision-making, multidisciplinary working and contribution to service development. The clinic mix and level of responsibility will be agreed according to qualifications, experience and the requirements of each pathway.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients with ocular hypertension, suspected glaucoma and established glaucoma within agreed clinical pathways and an authorised scope of practice.
- Perform and interpret glaucoma investigations, including Goldmann applanation tonometry, gonioscopy, pachymetry, optic nerve assessment, OCT and visual fields, as appropriate to the clinical presentation.
- Integrate structural and functional findings, assess risk and recognise progression, inadequate pressure control or other changes requiring senior review.
- Agree and document management and follow-up plans within the relevant pathway, with timely escalation to the Clinical Lead or ophthalmologist when required.
- For independent prescribing clinicians, initiate or adjust treatment only within prescribing competence, agreed clinical authority and service protocols.
- Provide comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, ocular health assessments and appropriate advice, management or referral for other eye conditions.
- Explain findings, treatment options, adherence and safety-netting clearly, involving patients in decisions about their care.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Higher Certificate and Diploma holders will have individually agreed responsibilities. The qualification alone does not confer prescribing authority or authorise every level of glaucoma case complexity.
