Role: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Hybrid Blackpool/Newcastle
Duration: 12-month contract
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong, recent hands-on experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Exadata to join a high-profile programme.
Core Purpose of the Role
This is a senior technical role focused on:
- Leading and supporting Oracle-based infrastructure services in OCI and Exadata environments
- Providing BAU operational support alongside complex design and problem-solving
- Acting as a technical SME and escalation point, including major incident management
- Supporting team upskilling and knowledge sharing
- Contributing to cloud and infrastructure strategy and delivery

Essential Skills & Experience
Candidates must demonstrate strong, recent experience (within last 5 years) in:
Oracle & Database Technologies
- Oracle RDBMS (11.223ai)
- Oracle Exadata and Base Database in OCI
- Oracle RAC, ASM, AFD, HANFS, TAF
- Data Guard configuration and support
- RMAN backup and recovery
- OEM and OCI Database Management
- Patching, upgrades, and high availability mission-critical environments
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Strong OCI experience (critical requirement)
- AWS experience (especially network segregation/security)
- Linux and/or AIX environments
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) including debugging
Security & DevOps
- Network segmentation in cloud environments
- Data encryption (in transit and at rest, Oracle-focused preferred)
- OIDC authentication (GitLab runners)
- Git repository management

Data Migration & Tools
- Datapump, GoldenGate, ZDM
- Migration testing in Oracle/AWS environments
Additional Desirable Experience
- Oracle Multitenant, TDE, TLS
- Exadata configuration and optimisation
- Supporting highly available enterprise database platforms
Key Requirements Summary
- Deep OCI + Exadata expertise (must-have)
- Strong Oracle DBA/infrastructure background
- Ability to support BAU while contributing to design and strategic work
- Proven experience in enterprise-scale, mission-critical environments
