Role Title: SQL - Oracle Database Administrator
Location: Manchester / Barrow - 3 days onsite/week
Duration: 6 initial months contract
Rate: INSIDE IR35 MARKET RATE

Role Description
Focusing on scalability, integrity, performance, availability, security, monitoring and troubleshooting of core DB clusters
- Owning core database clusters in Production as well as on a wide range of technologies
- Reporting into the Operations Manager and working alongside the Senior DBA
Responsibilities
- Oracle schema object sizing.
- Monitor data block organisation.
- Monitor physical storage and contention.
- Monitor tablespace utilization.
- Memory usage.
- Physical I/O tuning.
- Lock monitoring.
- Database resource utilization.
- Alert log, Backup status.
- Database free space.
- Performance tuning ratios.
- Check Invalid objects.
- Monitor build-up of trace files.
- Monitor growth of alert logs.
- Purge log and trace files, which are no longer required.
- Database Monitoring.
- Cache (Buffer Cache, Library Cache, Dictionary Cache) hit/miss ratios.
- Point in time database recovery, using on-line redo logs.
- Provide advice during database restoration following a crash or media failure.
- Monitor Archive log retention period for database recoverability and highlight issues / limitations.
- Ensure database changes are reflected into the backup strategy.

- Customized DBMS_JOBS running.
- Logical I/O on the database.
- SAR on the database server.
- Locks on the database.
- Sessions and session queries.
- Monitor database availability issues.
- Monitor on-line and archived log file usage.
- Monitor roll-back segment usage.
- EARS call handling for Oracle DBA team.
- Change handling for Oracle DBA team.
- Participate in implementation planning.
- Export & Import data between production and test instances as required.
