Salary: £34,434 to £35,412 per annum (pro-rata equivalent £20,940 to £21,534 per annum)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week

About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety training professional who can confidently design, deliver and continuously improve essential mandatory training across the council. This role is central to strengthening our internal training capacity, supporting statutory and regulatory compliance, and helping our services maintain safe, competent and confident working practices.
The successful candidate will bring a strong background in health and safety training delivery, with the credibility and practical experience to engage operational services, translate requirements into effective learning, and deliver high-quality sessions to a wide and diverse workforce.
This is a varied and professionally rewarding role. You will not only deliver training but also help shape our approach to learning by developing materials, advising services on suitable solutions, and supporting improvements that make training more accessible, consistent and service-focused.
Flexibility in working and delivery days is important, as training may need to be scheduled around operational requirements, service availability and workforce demand. We are therefore looking for someone who can work flexibly and proactively to support delivery across agreed days and times.
You will design, write and enhance training materials, deliver courses and provide practical support across learning subjects such as Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely, Manual Handling, First Aid and other health and safety related areas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver a programme of mandatory Health and Safety training that supports statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Use your health and safety training expertise to create practical, engaging and operationally relevant learning experiences.
- Design, write, update and continuously improve learning resources, including classroom, virtual and eLearning materials where appropriate.
- Facilitate confident, inclusive and engaging sessions across a range of subjects including IOSH Managing Safely, Manual Handling, First Aid and other relevant health and safety topics.
- Provide clear, supportive and customer-focused advice to services on learning solutions, safe working practices and training requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety function, Organisational Development and Workforce Training colleagues, managers and services to coordinate training delivery and respond to operational priorities.
- Plan and adapt delivery to meet service needs, including flexibility across agreed working days where required.

Who We’re Looking For
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have a strong background in health and safety training delivery and the confidence to deliver learning to a range of audiences, including operational teams, supervisors and managers.
The Ideal Candidate Will Be
- An experienced and confident trainer/facilitator with practical health and safety knowledge.
- Able to design and deliver learning that is clear, relevant, engaging and focused on safe working practice.
- Flexible and responsive in their approach to delivery days, service priorities and operational requirements.
- Solutions-focused, proactive and committed to excellent customer service.
- Comfortable working across a diverse range of council services and adapting training to different operational contexts.
- Able to build positive working relationships with services, colleagues and stakeholders.
- Confident in reviewing and improving training materials so they remain current, effective and aligned to organisational needs.
