Specialist Orthodontist, or Dentist with postgraduate qualifications in orthodontics
The Observatory Dental Practice, Falmouth, Cornwall — fully private, non-corporate
The opportunity
A genuinely unusual opening: a modern, fully private, independently owned practice on the Cornish coast, ten minutes' walk from Gyllyngvase beach, with more orthodontic demand than we can currently handle.
We opened in 2022 and have grown to six dentists and four therapists, supported by a hygienist, an endodontist and an implantologist. We were highly commended for Best New Practice at the Private Dentistry Awards 2023, and we are opening our fourth surgery this year.
The orthodontic demand here is real and measurable. We turned away 20 orthodontic enquiries last month alone because we have exceeded our capacity. Since the closure of the River Practice in Truro there is also substantial unmet demand across the area for an orthodontic referral service, and we are well placed to provide it. Whoever takes this role will not be building a list from scratch — they will be working through one that already exists.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The surgery and support
You will work in a brand new, state-of-the-art surgery equipped with an iTero 5D scanner, Aquacut, digital SLR photography, speed-increasing handpieces and digital phosphor plate radiography. OPGs are currently taken at a neighbouring practice, and we will invest in bringing this in house for the right person.
We will provide a dedicated orthodontic nurse, and a treatment coordinator to handle consultations and finance conversations once you are busy. You will not be expected to run your own admin.
Remuneration
We will discuss a package that reflects your qualifications and experience. We do not expect you to subsidise materials.
Qualifications
We would consider a specialist orthodontist, or a dentist with postgraduate qualifications in orthodontics, depending on experience.
Portfolio
A portfolio demonstrating your clinical techniques and honestly reflecting your experience and outcomes would be a great advantage. We do not expect perfection.

Days and hours
We run a two-shift day Monday to Thursday: mornings 8:00am–1:45pm, afternoons 2:00pm–7:45pm. This gives you nearly six hours of clinical time in a shift while protecting the rest of your day. Fridays run as a single shift, 8:00am–5:30pm. There is ample opportunity for additional shifts if you want them, and we can work with you to find a pattern that suits.
What we are looking for
Someone who wants the time, equipment and materials to do orthodontics properly, who will look after our patients, and who wants to build something with us rather than simply rent a chair. In return we will back you: your development, your equipment, and a working week that leaves room for a life outside it.
