The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced OT Cyber Security Manager to lead the development and execution of cybersecurity strategy across Operational Technology (OT) environments.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for securing industrial control systems, SCADA environments, manufacturing systems, and critical operational infrastructure. You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, Risk, and operational stakeholders to strengthen cyber resilience, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and maintain the OT cybersecurity strategy and roadmap aligned to business objectives.
  • Establish OT security policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Provide expert guidance on OT cyber risk, controls, investments, and best practices.
  • Lead OT cybersecurity audits and remediation activities.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Conduct OT cyber risk assessments and vulnerability reviews.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across industrial and operational environments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and frameworks including:
    • IEC 62443
    • NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
    • NIS2
    • ISO 27001
  • Support compliance with sector-specific regulatory requirements.

Security Architecture & Implementation

  • Design and maintain secure OT network architectures.
  • Ensure effective segmentation between IT and OT environments.
  • Review and approve OT technology deployments from a cybersecurity perspective.
  • Support the secure adoption of Industrial IoT (IIoT), cloud-connected systems, and remote access solutions.

Incident Response & Operational Security

  • Develop and maintain OT-specific incident response processes.
  • Lead investigations and response activities for OT cybersecurity incidents.
  • Coordinate with IT Security Operations, engineering teams, and third-party providers during security events.
  • Monitor emerging OT threats and vulnerabilities.

Asset Security & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain visibility of OT assets, systems, and communication networks.
  • Oversee OT vulnerability management, patching, and remediation programmes.
  • Ensure secure configuration and lifecycle management of industrial assets.
  • Drive continuous improvement across OT security controls and operational resilience.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary OT cybersecurity subject matter expert.
  • Partner with plant managers, engineers, maintenance teams, and IT security teams.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver security awareness programmes and promote a security-first culture across operational teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
    • SCADA environments
    • Manufacturing and operational technology networks
  • Experience developing and implementing OT cybersecurity strategies and governance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of OT security architecture, network segmentation, and industrial protocols.
  • Experience managing OT security incidents, vulnerabilities, and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of OT-focused cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including:
    • IEC 62443
    • NIST CSF
    • NIS2
    • ISO 27001
  • Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Industrial IoT (IIoT) security.
  • Critical national infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing, energy, or defence sector experience.
  • Cloud-connected industrial systems.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing third-party security providers and regulatory engagements.
