Your impact

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Cyber Security team as an OT Cybersecurity Consultant, supporting Critical National Infrastructure clients across sectors including Energy, Water, Rail, Highways, Aviation and Defence. You'll work at the intersection of engineering, operational technology and cybersecurity, helping organisations protect the systems and services that underpin the UK's critical infrastructure.

Working alongside operational, engineering and security teams, you'll help assess, design and implement cybersecurity solutions across industrial control system environments. Whether your experience comes from OT cybersecurity, industrial networking, control systems engineering or automation, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that improve resilience, reduce risk and support secure operations across complex OT estates.

Day to Day

  • Support the assessment, design and implementation of cybersecurity controls within OT and ICS environments
  • Work alongside engineers and operational teams to understand system architectures, operational requirements and potential security risks
  • Review OT networks, industrial control systems and supporting infrastructure to identify opportunities to improve security and resilience
  • Contribute to the development of secure OT architectures, including network segmentation, remote access and monitoring solutions
  • Support cybersecurity assessments, technical reviews and security improvement initiatives across a range of Critical National Infrastructure sectors
  • Produce clear technical documentation, recommendations and client deliverables
  • Support the identification and mitigation of cyber risks across OT environments
  • Assist with the integration of security controls across converged IT and OT networks
  • Work with stakeholders to improve operational resilience and cyber maturity
  • Contribute to incident readiness, threat detection and monitoring initiatives where required
  • Keep up to date with developments in OT cybersecurity, industrial technologies and emerging threats
  • Communicate progress, risks and recommendations effectively with clients and project teams

Here's what you'll need

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate a strong blend of the following skills, experience, and attributes suitable for a Mid - Senior level position

  • Experience in OT cybersecurity, ideally gained within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or other industrial and operational environments.
  • Understanding of OT/ICS technologies commonly used across CNI sectors, such as SCADA, DCS, PLCs, RTUs, industrial networking, and safety systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with security engineering technologies across both IT and OT networks (e.g., endpoint protection tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
  • Familiarity with key standards, frameworks, and regulations, including IEC 62443, NIST CSF, the ISO 27000 series, MITRE ATT&CK, and NIS/NIS2.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to articulate threat‑based and risk‑informed security considerations in clear business terms, enabling risk owners to make proportionate and well‑informed decisions.
  • Understanding of core design principles related to operational safety, reliability, resilience, and secure system lifecycle management.
  • Awareness of cloud and edge technology integration within OT environments.
