Outside IR35 Contract Opportunity | OT Engineer | £400/day | Remote (UK)

Are you an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Engineer looking for your next contract? We're supporting a growing UK organisation embarking on a range of OT infrastructure and industrial connectivity projects and are looking for an experienced contractor to join the team.

Role Overview

  • Role: OT Engineer
  • Location: Remote with occasional travel across the UK
  • Contract: 6 months initially, with strong potential for extension
  • Rate: Up to £400/day Outside IR35
  • Start: ASAP

OT Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support Operational Technology environments.
  • Configure and maintain industrial networks, switches and firewalls.
  • Support OT infrastructure across manufacturing, utilities or industrial environments.
  • Work closely with IT and engineering teams to ensure secure integration between OT and enterprise networks.
  • Perform troubleshooting, incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to OT security initiatives and best practice.
  • Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer.

OT Engineer Essential Skills

  • Proven OT/ICS architecture experience within industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or critical infrastructure.
  • Expertise in OT network architecture, cyber security, and operational resilience.
  • Solid understanding of IT/OT convergence and secure architecture design.
  • Hands-on experience applying IEC 62443, including zone and conduit modelling.
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, and Profinet.
  • Experience designing secure OT network segmentation and reference architectures.
  • Strong OT cyber risk assessment and mitigation expertise.
  • Experience working with OEMs, systems integrators, and engineering partners.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF, SABSA, or other enterprise architecture frameworks is desirable.

Desirable

  • Experience within manufacturing, energy, utilities or critical infrastructure.
  • Exposure to Cisco Industrial, Hirschmann, Moxa, Siemens or equivalent technologies.
  • Understanding of IEC 62443 or other industrial cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Relevant networking or security certifications.
