OT Technical Support Manager

Rate: £600 to £800 per day inside IR35 (DOE)

Duration: approx. to 31/03/27

Location: Perth, Scotland – Hybrid, 1 to 2 days onsite per week

Clearance: Standard BPSS

We’re supporting a major UK energy and utilities organisation responsible for critical national infrastructure in the appointment of an experienced OT Technical Support Manager.

This is a senior operational leadership role focused on maintaining the availability, security and resilience of business-critical Operational Technology systems.

The role

You will lead the operational support, maintenance and resilience of high-availability OT platforms across a complex utilities environment. You’ll take ownership of service performance, incident response, maintenance planning and security remediation while developing the capability of the technical teams responsible for these critical systems.

  • Leading the day-to-day support and operational management of critical OT platforms.
  • Overseeing systems such as DMS, SCADA, data historians, telemetry and communications infrastructure.
  • Managing major incidents, fault diagnosis, service recovery and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintaining operational resilience, availability and continuity across business-critical environments.
  • Planning and overseeing OT patching, maintenance and vulnerability-remediation activities.
  • Working closely with cyber security, engineering, operations, suppliers and programme stakeholders.
  • Managing resource allocation, workforce planning and operational priorities.
  • Mapping team capability and addressing technical or resourcing gaps.
  • Coaching and developing multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Establishing clear service standards, governance, reporting and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Communicating operational risks, service performance and remediation plans to senior stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong experience leading technical support or service operations within an OT environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of DMS, SCADA, data historians, telemetry or communications systems.
  • Proven experience managing incidents and restoring services in high-availability environments.
  • A strong understanding of OT patching, vulnerability remediation and controlled maintenance.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder, supplier and service-management skills.
  • The ability to balance operational priorities, cyber risk and service resilience.
  • Previous experience within the utilities or energy sector.
