Merco, M27 8UW, Manchester Area

We are looking for an Out of Hours Area Manager to oversee a number of client sites outside of normal office hours. The role will involve supporting cleaning teams, maintaining clear communication with staff and management, and ensuring all sites continue to meet Merco and client standards.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Visiting sites
  • Delivering cleaning stock and equipment
  • Completing site audits and quality checks
  • Supporting staff inductions
  • Arranging holiday and sickness cover
  • Responding to any operational issues that arise during out-of-hours periods
  • Supporting with shift changes, staff attendance, basic equipment issues, and ensuring any concerns are reported and followed up promptly

The role requires someone who is organised, reliable, and proactive, with the confidence to manage situations independently while keeping the wider management team informed. Flexibility is essential, as working hours will include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, depending on operational requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
