About the Team and Role:
Join Gloucestershire County Council's Early Years & Childcare Service and help shape an exciting new countywide SEND offer. As the Out of School Inclusion Advisor, you will play a key role in improving access, participation and experiences for children attending breakfast clubs, after school clubs and holiday provision.
Working with providers, families, schools and partner agencies, you will promote inclusive practice, support the implementation of reasonable adjustments, and help ensure children with SEND can participate fully in out of school activities. You will provide advice, guidance and practical support to providers, contribute to the effective use of the Out of School Inclusion Fund, undertake visits across Gloucestershire, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.
The role requires flexibility, including some early morning, late afternoon, evening and school holiday working to support provision across the county. Time worked outside normal office hours will be managed in line with Council policies.
About You:
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practice, with experience of working with children, families and education or childcare providers. You will be able to interpret guidance, assess individual circumstances and provide practical advice and support. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships and manage a varied workload independently. You will hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in education, childcare or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent experience. The role requires regular travel across Gloucestershire and flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and school holidays.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
