Outbound Sales Lead Generator – Remote/Home Worker

£27,000 - £35,000 + Uncapped Commission (Y1 Average Earnings £100,000)
Remote/Home Based (UK) | Full-time | Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

This role is for experienced B2B sales professionals who already know how to pick up the phone, build a pipeline, and hit targets, all whilst having the discipline to do it from home independently without requiring the buzz of a sales floor.

Northern Gas and Power's Remote Lead Gen programme is built for people with a proven sales track record who are looking to move into, or level up, their knowledge of the Energy sector and excel their career to a different level.

This is not an entry-level role. We need people who can manage their own day, stay disciplined without a manager looking over their shoulder, and consistently deliver results in a home environment.

What you'll actually be doing

  • Making 50-80+ outbound cold-calls daily to businesses to speak to their decision-makers including energy managers, finance directors, procurement leads, and CEOs
  • Qualifying opportunities: understanding contract timelines, annual consumption, and decision-making processes
  • Booking qualified appointments and building a commercial pipeline for you and your Closer
  • Learning how energy procurement works — from supplier negotiations, tender processes, to competitive market pricing
  • Working towards weekly and monthly targets that are challenging but achievable
  • Using CRM systems to manage your pipeline and track progress
  • Attending virtual team meetings, coaching sessions, and call reviews via Teams

In short, your job is to be self-disciplined and tenacious; cold call businesses to create opportunities, build the relationships, and deliver pipeline results by converting opportunities into cash sales by working with a sales closer.

What you need to succeed remotely

The people who succeed share these characteristics:

  • Self-discipline - you can structure your own day, stick to a call schedule, and stay productive without someone watching
  • Resilience in isolation — you won't have a buzzing sales floor to lift you after a bad call. You need to be able to reset and go again on your own
  • Proactive communication - you'll reach out to your Closer, your coach, and your manager regularly. Remote doesn't mean disconnected
  • Routine and consistency - the best remote salespeople build habits: same start time, same call blocks, same pipeline reviews. Structure replaces supervision
  • Comfort with technology - Teams, CRM, VoIP softphone, screen sharing. You need to be fluent, not fumbling
  • Honest self-assessment - if you're having a slow day, you flag it early and ask for support rather than hiding behind a closed laptop
  • The right working environment – a room with a door you can close and work privately as well as a reliable broadband connection

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Experience required

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a B2B outbound sales role — telesales, lead generation, business development, recruitment consulting, or similar
  • A track record of consistently hitting or exceeding targets in a KPI-driven environment
  • Experience working in the energy, utilities, or TPI/broker sector is preferred but not essential
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline and activity
  • Previous remote working experience is advantageous but not essential — what matters is the right mindset

What's in it for you

  • Uncapped commission. Some of our Lead Gens earned in excess of £100k+ in commission last year
  • Full technology setup provided — laptop, headset, monitor, VoIP softphone
  • Structured remote onboarding programme with virtual coaching, call reviews, and professional development
  • A clear promotion path — many of NGP's senior Closers and Energy Consultants started as Lead Gens
  • 23 days holiday + additional December leave (December off) + bank holidays
  • Pension and access to Simplyhealth (money towards dental care, eyesight checks, physio, etc.)
  • Exciting incentives for excellent performers (so far this year, we've sent our people for VIP experiences to: Monaco Grand Prix, Tomorrowland, Champions League matches, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon to name a few...)
  • Same commission structure and earnings potential as office-based Lead Gens — no remote penalty

Your first 90 days

  • Weeks 1-2: Virtual classroom training — energy market fundamentals, objection handling, CRM, call structure. You'll attend live sessions via Teams and shadow experienced agents through screen share. You may be required to attend our Gateshead office during this initial training period.
  • Weeks 3-8: You're on the phones from home with direct support. Your Closer, your coach, and your manager review your calls remotely via recorded sessions. Daily check-ins via Teams. Targets are introduced but ramped gradually, as the focus is on quality, not volume.
  • Weeks 9-12: You're now building your pipeline, your first deals are progressing through to close, and you'll see commission hitting your payslip. Check-ins move to weekly as you prove your rhythm.

This is for you, if

  • You have B2B Energy sales experience and want to apply it from home without taking a pay cut
  • You're self-motivated and don't need a manager standing behind you to pick up the phone
  • You have a proper home office setup and a quiet, professional environment to work from
  • You want uncapped earnings and a clear career path — even as a remote worker
  • You're comfortable with video calls, virtual coaching, and digital collaboration

This is not for you, if

  • You've never done outbound B2B sales before — this role requires existing experience
  • You're looking for a role where you can coast or work at your own pace
  • You don't have a dedicated, quiet workspace at home
  • You struggle with motivation or discipline when working alone
  • You want constant in-person supervision and support — our remote support is excellent but it's virtual
  • You're uncomfortable with daily accountability calls and activity tracking

About our People

Some of our most successful people in this role have worked in Recruitment Consulting, Telesales, Retentions, Energy or Utilities, Door to Door, Field Sales, and commission-only roles. This role is easy to transition to if you already work towards targets, you know how to prospect, you've handled rejection, you already close your own deals, and are used to earning commission.

"People ask me how I've done so well and the honest answer is I keep picking up the phone and working away. Every person I speak to is trying to run a successful business, often stressed about energy costs they don't fully understand. If I can help them even a little bit, the call was worth making! I've now got customers who specifically ask for me when they come up for renewal. If you're good with people and you're prepared to work hard, the rest will come. I'm proof of that."
