Join us as the Outpatients & Pre-Assessment Manager at Fulwood Hall Hospital and you'll have the opportunity to lead and develop high-quality outpatient and pre-operative assessment services within one of the UK's leading independent healthcare providers.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for delivering safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services across Outpatients and Pre-Assessment. You will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring patients receive an exceptional experience from their first consultation through to admission for surgery.

Working collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists, operational managers, theatre teams, ward teams and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will lead service development, drive clinical excellence, optimise patient pathways and support the continued growth of the hospital.

What You'll Do

As Outpatients & Pre-Assessment Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management, leadership and development of the Outpatients and Pre-Assessment departments.

Key responsibilities include:

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide visible, professional and compassionate leadership to Outpatient and Pre-Assessment teams.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.
  • Promote high standards of clinical practice and professional conduct.
  • Lead on patient safety initiatives and quality improvement programmes.
  • Support the development of a positive culture focused on continuous learning and excellence.
  • Ensure services remain inspection-ready and compliant with all regulatory standards.

Pre-Assessment Services

  • Ensure patients receive comprehensive pre-operative assessment and optimisation prior to surgery.
  • Develop robust pathways for management of complex patients and those requiring specialist review.
  • Work closely with consultants and anaesthetists to ensure patients are clinically fit for surgery.
  • Support reduction in cancellations through effective pre-operative planning and risk management.
  • Oversee management of diagnostics, investigations and anaesthetic referrals within pre-assessment pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with Ramsay policies and national best practice standards.

Outpatient Services

  • Ensure clinics operate efficiently with exceptional patient experience at the centre of service delivery.
  • Maximise clinic utilisation and effective capacity management.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants to optimise clinic scheduling and service efficiency.
  • Monitor performance, demand and activity levels to support hospital growth and service development.
  • Drive improvements in patient access, responsiveness and pathway performance.

Clinical Governance

  • Lead governance processes across Outpatients and Pre-Assessment.
  • Monitor incidents, complaints, patient feedback, risks and audit outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate investigation and learning from incidents and complaints.
  • Maintain departmental risk registers and action plans.
  • Support compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards, Ramsay policies and professional standards.
  • Deliver quality improvement initiatives that improve patient outcomes and experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
