Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of young people and communities? We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate clinician to join our dynamic iCaSH team, working primarily within our innovative school-based sexual health service across Peterborough and the surrounding areas.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by providing confidential, person-centred advice, support and care relating to contraception, sexual health, relationships, sexuality and wider health and wellbeing issues. You will work closely with young people, empowering them to make informed choices about their health while promoting positive health outcomes.
As part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care, delivering high-quality clinical interventions and health promotion activities within schools and community settings.
You will build strong relationships with young people, educational settings and partner agencies, ensuring accessible, inclusive and responsive services for the local population.

Main duties of the job
- To work with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Service Manager to support service development, quality improvement initiatives and the delivery of high-quality patient care within HYPA clinics and school-based services across Peterborough and the surrounding area.
- To provide clinical leadership, support staff development through teaching, supervision and promote effective communication with patients, colleagues and partner agencies.
- To independently assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care for patients accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services, including providing specialist advice, contraception consultations, management of complex needs, Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) fitting and removal, and other SRH examinations and procedures.
- To undertake screening procedures, including cervical cytology, diagnose and treat common sexually transmitted infections in line with guidelines, interpret and communicate test results, and manage partner notification and follow-up processes.
- To perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, vaccinations and injections, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with Trust policies, PGDs, NMC standards and professional guidance.
- To provide a safe, non-judgemental environment, support informed decision-making, manage safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people and vulnerable adults, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure appropriate care and protection.

Person Specification
Education
Essential
- NMC Registered Nurse or NMC registered Midwife
- Nationally recognised qualification in contraception
- Accredited to BASHH STIF Level 2 Competency Training or equivalent
Desirable
- Accreditation to fit contraceptive implants and intra-uterine devices, or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Recent relevant experience of working in a sexual health clinical service (Contraception, GUM)
- Able to demonstrate competency in supply of treatments by Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
- Evidence of continuous professional development & clinical competence
Desirable
- Accredited qualification and ability to perform LARC procedures
- Competent at undertaking Microscopy
- Experience of delivering training presentations to internal and external audiences
Skills
Essential
- Working knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct, Confidentiality and Administration of Medicine
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and flexibly
