Outreach Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the Role

Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of young people and communities? We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate clinician to join our dynamic iCaSH team, working primarily within our innovative school-based sexual health service across Peterborough and the surrounding areas.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by providing confidential, person-centred advice, support, and care relating to contraception, sexual health, relationships, sexuality, and wider health and wellbeing issues. You will work closely with young people, empowering them to make informed choices about their health while promoting positive health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care.
• Deliver high-quality clinical interventions and health promotion activities within schools and community settings.
• Build strong relationships with young people, educational settings, and partner agencies.
• Ensure accessible, inclusive, and responsive services for the local population.
• Provide clinical leadership and support staff development through teaching, supervision, and promote effective communication with patients, colleagues, and partner agencies.
• Independently assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care for patients accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services.
• Provide specialist advice, contraception consultations, management of complex needs, Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) fitting and removal, and other SRH examinations and procedures.
• Undertake screening procedures, including cervical cytology, diagnose and treat common sexually transmitted infections in line with guidelines, interpret and communicate test results, and manage partner notification and follow-up processes.
• Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, vaccinations, and injections, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with Trust policies, PGDs, NMC standards, and professional guidance.
• Provide a safe, non-judgemental environment, support informed decision-making, manage safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure appropriate care and protection.
