Outreach Specialist
The Town of Acton is seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven Outreach Specialist to lead community engagement efforts that expand access to energy efficiency programs and improve Town-wide communication. This dual-purpose role is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability, equity, and effective public engagement.
General Duties and Responsibilities
The primary focus of this position is to serve as Acton's Energy Advocate under the Mass Save Community First Partnership (CFP). The Outreach Specialist will build connections with Acton’s residents and small businesses—particularly with underrepresented and underserved communities—to increase awareness of and participation in energy-saving programs that reduce utility costs and support a clean energy future. Through active engagement, partnership-building, and tailored outreach, the Outreach Specialist will support residents and businesses in accessing relevant services and incentives.
In addition to energy outreach, the secondary focus of this position is to enhance the Town’s overall communication with the public. The Outreach Specialist will support the development of clear, inclusive, and accessible communication strategies to promote local government programs, events, and updates. This includes assisting in the coordination of public messaging across digital platforms, printed materials, and community events. May have to work on occasion on the evenings or the weekend.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
