Field Technician Role at MasTec Communications Group

About the Role

MasTec Communications Group is a leading national infrastructure construction company operating across the United States. We specialise in wireline and wireless communication services, including:

  • Cell tower construction
  • RF engineering
  • Broadband fiber optic cable installation
  • Outside Plant (OSP) engineering
  • Wireline construction
  • Emergency maintenance services

Responsibilities

As a Fielder, you will:

  • Conduct site visits within designated markets
  • Take legible field notes for construction drawings in:
    • Aerial applications
    • Buried applications
    • Underground applications
    • Building applications
  • Analyze work sites and design requests to determine project scope
  • Ensure projects are completed on time while maintaining quality standards
  • Monitor details closely and communicate concerns or updates with the OSP Designer
  • Represent MasTec professionally when interacting with internal and external clients
  • Strictly follow company safety policies and protocols

Requirements

  • Preferred (but not required):

    • Understanding of telecom, fiber, and outside plant (OSP) systems
    • Familiarity with utilities, cabling, or construction
    • Experience using Microsoft Visio for field notes
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or technical/community college coursework (preferred)
    • Authorised to work in the U.S.
    • Valid driver’s license (Motor Vehicle Record review + compliant with company safety standards)
    • Willingness to clinically adapt, seek training, and stay updated on engineering best practices
    • Local to market for site surveys (threshold for remote no exceptions)
  • Compensation: $25–$35 per hour
