Role Overview

OAK is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Outwards Reinsurance Technical Lead to support the growth of its operational platform and build of its Lloyd’s Managing Agent – OAK Managing Agent (OMA).

Working within the Capital Solutions team and reporting to the Head of Capital Solutions, this role combines responsibility for the end-to-end administration, reporting and oversight of OAK's ceded reinsurance programmes with the opportunity to help build and scale the operational technology, systems and processes that will support the business's future growth.

The candidate will work across multiple teams within the Capital & Risk function (Portfolio Analytics, Pricing & Reserving, Data Science & Innovation) as well as the Finance & Operations and Underwriting functions, playing a key role in developing OAK's Operational Reinsurance Infrastructure (ORI), improving operational efficiency through automation and the deployment of market-leading technology, and supporting the development of portfolio management and reporting capabilities.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical reinsurance operations and building technology-led, scalable platforms and processes within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Outwards Reinsurance Operations

  • Administer complex ceded reinsurance treaties and facultative arrangements across proportional and non-proportional programmes.
  • Interpret contract wordings and ensure accurate operational
  • Maintain accurate system records for all reinsurance
  • Process endorsements, amendments and contractual
  • Ensure operational workflows reflect contract terms, controls and market practice.
  • Calculate and process ceded premiums, commissions, reinstatements and adjustments.
  • Manage claims recoveries across proportional and non-proportional
  • Oversee large and complex loss recoveries, including disputes where
  • Ensure timely and accurate settlement of reinsurer
  • Track premiums, claims, recoverables, collateral and related cash
  • Support catastrophe bond and alternative risk transfer activities where

Reconciliations & Financial Control

  • Perform detailed reconciliations across reinsurance ledgers, systems and source
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies across underwriting, claims and finance data.
  • Manage aged debt and outstanding
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
  • Maintain strong financial controls, governance and audit
  • Ensure accurate data and reporting for internal control, audit and regulatory

Bordereaux, Data & Reporting

  • Produce, validate and review premium, risk and claims
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data for reporting, regulatory and Lloyd’s market requirements.
  • Support audit, compliance and Lloyd’s reporting
  • Contribute to improvements in data quality, reporting processes and operational
  • Deliver portfolio, operational and performance reporting to internal

ORI, Managing Agent Build & Systems Development

  • Help lead the operational build-out of OAK’s ORI capabilities within the Managing Agent platform.
  • Work with the relevant OAK teams to design scalable processes, workflows and controls.
  • Support the development of proprietary systems for ceded reinsurance, ORI and broader portfolio management tools.
  • Define business requirements and act as a key business stakeholder in system design, testing, implementation and adoption.
  • Help reduce manual processes through automation and improved data workflows.
  • Support the development of tools that enable improved exposure management, capital allocation, portfolio analytics and investor reporting.

Technical Knowledge

  • Lloyd’s and/or London Market operations and
  • Treaty and facultative reinsurance operations and management, including proportional and non-proportional structures.
  • Ceded reinsurance accounting, recoveries and settlement
  • Claims recovery lifecycle and large loss
  • Bordereaux production, validation and
  • Reinsurance system development; process, workflows, technology and operational controls.
  • Financial controls, reconciliation principles and audit
  • Exposure management, portfolio reporting and
  • Catastrophe bonds, ILS or alternative capital structures would be
