Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is currently recruiting for Overhaul & Modifications Technicians to join our team at our state of the art train maintenance centre in Doncaster. This is a permanent role working days on a 4 on 5 off/5 on 4 off shift pattern.

Accountabilities
In this exciting role you will be responsible for undertaking corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Perform Scheduled Overhaul Maintenance activities on the Class 80x series rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance plan and required delivery schedule
- Undertake Modification requirements of the Class 80x rolling stock. Maximising efficiency and reducing downtime.
- Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and procedures that support all depot and fleet activities
- Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
- Ensure all tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
- Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
- Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
- Ensure the Maintenance Management System (MMS) is updated with the correct level of detail to provide an auditable trail of work undertaken and enabling reports and trending analysis to be obtained.
- Support the Team Leaders and Overhaul and Modifications Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
- Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
- Attend and complete all associated training courses as required.

Required Skills/ Knowledge
Licences / Competences
- Experience of working in a modern engineering environment.
- Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational environment.
- Modern fault finding and repair techniques.
- Experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS)
Education/Qualifications
- HNC in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or completion of a relevant engineering apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline
Behavioural
- Can comfortably work within a team or on their own
- Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
- Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
- Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
- Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
- Loyal, committed, confident and determined.
Desirable
- Experience of performing modifications and overhaul on modern rolling stock.
- Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, powered plant and tools
- Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading
- Train driving, Fire warden, First Aider
- Depot Plant and Equipment; Bogie drop, Bogie Press, Cranes, Jacks, Air Systems.
- Depot Protection
- Full UK driving license
